The famous temple of shri Bhadrakali Koilakh Devi is situated 14kms east of Madhubani(Mithila). The surrounding of this temple is very well. Everyday special Aarti which is performed by the purohit of this temple in the evening, it draw special attention of hundreds of devoties areas and around. It is said that, nobody has ever returned empty handed from this screed place. Mahamahopadhya Umapati, Yoga Nand Jha, etc. belongs from this village. The level of educations of Brahmins is excellent.

The Mithila Museum is housed in a converted  school house  in Tokamachi, Nigata prefecture, situated in Japan snow country.  Here more than one thousands Mithila Paintings are exhibited on a permanent basis. The core of Teri-Cotta collection is the 109- pieces donation made in 1989 by the Government of India. The Museum focuses its activities on the acquisition, research and publicity of Mithila paintings, a free school using the surrounding natural forcet as a backdrop and provision of a forum for a international understanding.

 Janakpur is the capital of the ancient state of Mithila and the Janaki Temple, located in the center of the city, is well known in the Hindu Kingdom (Nepal). Sita (Janaki) the wife of the legendary hero Ram was born in Janakpur. Throughout the year, many pilgrims come to pay their respects to Ram and Sita who are the main religious attractions in Janakpur. The city is thronged by worshippers and visitors, especially during the festival of Bibah Panchami. This annual festival is celebrated on the occasion of Ram and Sita's marriage and their wedding ceremony is enacted throughout the week. During this period, the city is enlivened by the wedding festivities.

The cult of saivism has found expression in Mithila in basically Mazaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Saharsa have got quite a few Shiva temple.The influence of Nepal, where saivism has a very great holds, is clearly one of the reason why there are so many shiva temple in these border districts. Lots of pilgrims   from Nepal also visited these temples.The singeshwar temple at the village “Singheshwar” in Saharsa District(Mithila) is one of oldest shiva temples in mithila as well as  Bihar.Every year due to flood no any proper road or transport work properly. Their children could not easily married, as people in non-kosi Areas would not give their children in marriage, to parties in the kosi region.

Sitamarhi:- The Historical Tourist Place of Mithila


Sitamarhi is famous as a holy place. This place is situated in Bihar state’s Tirhut district. The place is near the bank of river Ganga in Bihar and is in close vicinity of the Nepal border. Sitamarhi is the same place where Saint Valmiki had his ashram and where Sita lived during her banishment. This place is considered sacred in Hindu mythology. This place is also considered to be the birth place of Sita and is hence called Sitamarhi. In close vicinity are the temple of Lord Rama, Lord Hanuman, Lord Shiva and Lakshman.
Sita Birth Place

According to legends, Sita was born in Punaura which is about 1 mile from Sitamarhi. This place is now known as Janaki Kund. It is also believed that Punaura was a part of Raja Janak’s dynasty. One this place was furiously hit by draught and there was a revelation that it would only rain if Raja Janak himself ploughed the fields.

Raja Janak realized the gravity of the situation and started ploughing. He reached Punaura where due to the ploughing he broke a pot and Sitaji appeared. It immediately started raining heavily. Devotees not only visit the temple in Punaura but also the Janaki temple in Sitamarhi. The idols of Sitaji and Lord Rama in this temple are beautiful.

Janaki temple is a holy place situated in Sitamarhi which is of immense importance in Hindu mythology. It is believed that after Sitaji’s marriage to Lord Rama, Raja Janak established their idols in this temple.  

Janaki Kund is situated in Punaura and is believed to be Sitaji’s birth place. It is said that Raja Janak ploughed Panaura’s fields. When he reached Punaura he broke a pot during ploughing and Sitaji appeared. It is also said that Sitaji used to take baths in this Kund.
This place is situated in North-Western Sitamarhi. It is said that Raja Janak did a Putreshti Yagya here and built Lord Shiva’s temple. Since then the place has been famous by the name of Haleshwar.

Baghi math is considered to be an adequate place to offer prayers and perform various rituals. Devotees from all over the world visit this place to offer various prayers.

It is believed that Draupadi was born in this place. This place is situated in the west of Sitamarhi. There is a tradition of a special puja on the day of Mahashivaratri and during the monsoon season. A fair is also organised during this period of the year.

History Of Mithila


मिथिला : एक परिचय मिथिला प्राचीन भारत मे एकटा साम्राज्य छल । ई पूर्वी गंगा मैदान मे अवस्थित अछि, जे आब आधा सँ अधिक बिहार और ओकरा सँ जुड़ल नेपालक भाग अछि । रामायण महाकाव्यक अनुसार मिथिला विदेह साम्राज्यक राजधानी छल । एहि शहरक पहचान नेपालक धनुषा जिला मे आजुक जनकपुर सँ कएल गेल अछि । विदेहक देश कखनो-कखनो मिथिला कहल जाईत अछि, जहन कि ई राजधानी छल । ई ठीक ओहिना अछि जेना कि कोशल साम्राज्यक राजधानी अयोध्या छल, जे कोशलक तुलना मे बेसी प्रसिद्ध भेल ।

प्राचीन पोथिक अनुसार मिथिलाक क्षेत्र कोशी नदीक क कछैर स शालग्रामी नदी क कात तक, पूरब स पश्चिम तक चौबीस योजन, अर्थात ९६ कोस(१९२ माईल) आर गंगा नदी क कात स नेपाल क पहाड़ तक, दक्षिण-उत्तर सोलह योजन अर्थात ६४ कोस ( १२८ माईल) अछि।

एही देशक आबादी तथा नामकरण केर आधार ई अची जे सतयुग म राजा निमी, जे सूर्यवंशी इक्ष्वाकु क पुत्र रहे, अयोध्यापुरी स आबी क एही स्थान पर तपस्या करय लागल। ओ समय ई स्थान 'तपोवन' केर नाम स प्रसिद्ध रहे। मुदा किछु कारन स राजा निमी अपन पुरोहित वसिष्ठ मुनि क शाप स जरि क भष्म भए गेल। तखन देवता सब हुनका पुत्र विहीन होएक कारण हुनकर राख क इकट्ठा कए क मंथन केलक जेकरा स एकटा बालक केर जन्म भेल। एही बालक जखन युवा भेल त ओ अपन ओ वन क आबाद केलक जाही स ओ क्षेत्रक नाम हुनकर नाम पर मिथिला पडल।

मिथिलाभी भवः मैथिल “मिथिला मे जन्म लेनिहार मैथिल भेलाह, वा मैथिली भाषा बाजनिहार मैथिल छथि । गंगा बहथि जनिक दक्षिण दिशि, पूर्व कौशिकी धारा, पश्‍चिम बहथि गंडकी उत्तर हिमवत्‌ बल विस्तारा ।

एही तरह राजा निमी स ल क राजा हुलासन (राजा कृति) तक ५६ टा राजा एही काल म भेल जाही में एही काल केर २४ राजा, 'राजा सीरध्वज' जिनकर बेटी सीता छलाह स राजा रामचंद्र केर विवाह भेल आ ओही स ओ एतेक प्रसिद्ध भेल की ओकरा सब राजा जनक कहय लागल ओना जनक के मतलब राजा होए छैक, मुदा हुनकर बेटी जानकी रहे ओ मिथिला वंश केर २४ जनक रहे एही लेल हुनका सब 'जनक' कहय लागल।

मिथिलाक गाथा कतओक शताब्दी धरि पसरल अछि । ई कहल गेल अछि जे गौतम बुद्ध आ वर्धमान महावीर दुनू गोटे मिथिला मे रहल छलाह । ई प्रथम सहस्त्राब्दिक दौरान भारतीय इतिहासक केंद्र छल आ विभिन्न साहित्यिक आ धर्मग्रंथ संबंधी काज मे अपन योगदान देलक ।

मैथिली मिथिला मे बाजय जायवला भाषा थिक । भाषाविद मैथिली कें पूर्वी भारतीय भाषा मानलनि अछि आ एहि तरहें ई हिन्दी सँ भिन्न अछि । मैथिली कें पहिने हिन्दी आ बंगला दुनूक उप-भाषा मानल जाइत छल मुदा इ बंगाली स १०० वर्ष पुरान भाषा अछि। वस्तुत: मैथिली आब भारतीय भाषा बनि चुकल अछि ।

Maithili temple of jhanjharpur - CHAMUNDA NAGAR


Chamunda Asthan Pachahi Temple is located at distance of 12 km. from Jhanjharpur Railway Station in Madhubani Distt. (Bihar),Jhanjharpur has direct bus / Jeep services to Chamunda Nagar Pachahi with a frequency of a bus in every 10-15 minutes. The temple is dedicated to goddess 'Maa Chamunda' and also have a temple of 'Lord Mahadev'. The surroundings of the temple provide an excellent venue for meditation, prayers and spiritual attainments. There is a pond located at the front of the temple. There have a festival called ‘Mahadev Puja’. It is started in 1990. It occurs every year very next day of ‘Kojagara’ night. It comes upon Oct. - Nov. in every year for four days. Mahadev Poojaotsav is the one of the mostillustrated Pooja in Madhubani Distt. Now it has become one of the famous pilgrim of the district, devotees from far and near comes for Darshan of Maa Chamunda daily. This is one of the most visited temples in the vicinity of our district. The temple has been designed so that the rays of the sun illuminate the sanctum.

The famous temple of Shri Shri 108 Bhadrakali Koilakh Devi is situated 14 kms east of Madhubani. The village Koilakh derives its name from the revered deity.The temple management team has done an excellent job in keeping the surroundings neat and clean. The special Aarti which is performed daily in the evenings draws hundreds of devotees and Bhakts from nearby villages as well.It is said that nobody has ever returned empty handed from this sacred place.The village Koilakh is perhaps the most famous village of Mithila. The awareness level of villagers cutting across caste and religion is amazingly high. Though the level of education of Brahmins is excellent, other castes too are not too far behind. The economic condition of villagers has also improved. Mahamahopadhyay Umapati,Shri Mdhupji,Shri Yoga Nanad Jha were from The only sad part is that the once vibrant Koilakh Chouwk nowdays wears a deserted look. This is partly bacause the youth nowdays are forced to migrate to cities to make their living.Industrial and enterprenurial activities are non existent.
